On May 28, the Perfect 10 concert brings together popular Asian American performers Lady Danville, Victor Kim (Quest Crew), Andrew Figueroa Chiang & the Blazing Rays of the Sun, The Fung Brothers and Trebles & Blues to fundraise for Janet Liang and the non-profit community organization Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches (A3M).
Janet Liang was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2009, and the Helping Janet campaign was started to raise awareness about the lack of Asian Americans (and other minorities) that are registered in the National Bone Marrow Registry -- as well as the importance and simpilicity of the registration process that could potentially save a life. All that is necessary is a quick cheek swab. Since the Helping Janet campaign started, more than 20,000 people have registered to be bone marrow donors. (Click here for a list of drives.)
To get tickets for the Perfect 10 fundraiser, go to the event's official website.
The concert will take place at the Grand Star Jazz Club in downtown Los Angeles on May 28, 7-10:30pm.
For those who cannot attend, "Helping Janet" T-shirts are available for sale; $10 of each one sold will be donated to HelpingJanet.com.
