MGMT, a psychedelic New York-based band, begins its Asian tour on February 22 in Japan, before performing in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and South Korea.
Two core members of MGMT (pronounced M.G.M.T), Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, established the band in 2001, their freshman year in Wesleyan University in Connecticut, America. The members didn't expect to get noticed when they wrote their song "Time to Pretend," but the Columbia Records signed the young group, and they became famous soon after their 2007 debut album Oracular Spectacular. Featuring intricate pop melodies with psychedelic sounds, rock and electronic music, The Oracular Spectacular has sold more than one million copies worldwide. This is their first tour in Asia.
