Kina Grannis in her music video "In Your Arms"
To her die-hard fans' delight, Kina Grannis's SCP or "Secret Crazy Project" was finally unveiled after two years. "In Your Arms" is the latest single from Kina's album Stairwells. The music video was done with stop-motion technology -- and 288,000 jelly beans -- a result of a partnership with Jelly Belly and Kina Grannis and Co.
"I wanted a video that feels hand-made... one that stands on its own," stated Grannis. She got her wish after receiving a call from music video director Greg Jardin who had an idea of creating a stop-motion film with jelly bean art. The process itself was a work of art: the making of the video illustrates the sweat and love that was poured into the music video's production.
Grannis is a Japanese, English, Irish, French, Welsh and Scottish singer-songwriter who first got attention for winning the Doritos Crash the Superbowl contest, which earned her a recording contract with Interscope Records. Before Stairwells, she had released three albums: 2005's Sincerely Me and 2006's One More in the Attic and In Memory of the Singing Bridge.
