The new MTV series Underemployed premiered on this Tuesday, October 16, at 10 pm. The scripted hour-long series, created by Craig Wright (known for Dirty Sexy Money), echoes the issues that many real life recently-graduated college students face in this economic climate. Set in Chicago, the show depicts a group of friends who are underemployed college grads fighting for their dreams, but stuck in unfulfilling and demeaning jobs.
In the pilot episode, an unpaid intern resorts to other methods of persuasion to get that salary, college sweethearts are reunited by pregnancy, and an aspiring model takes any serving, stripping, and performing job to get closer to his dream.
Michelle Ang -- a New Zealand actress who starred in Neighbours, Outrageous Fortune, The Tribe, and 2011's New Zealand hit My Wedding and Other Secrets -- plays aspiring writer Sophia who is stuck selling doughnuts while wearing a silly hat. The rest of the cast includes Diego Boneta, Sarah Habe, Jared Kusnitz and Inbar Lavi.
Underemployed plays on Tuesdays at 10pm on MTV.
