Tablo (Daniel Armand Lee) of Epik High.
Announced on September 27, Tablo will be making his comeback on November 1 with a solo album. After a two-year hiatus, the frontman of hip-hop group Epik High signed an exclusive four-year contract with top Korean record label YG Entertainment. Tablo was introduced to CEO Yang Hyun Suk by his wife, actress Kang Hye Jeong, who is also a member of YGE.
After a controversy over the legitimacy of his Stanford credentials sparked by anti-fans, Tablo withdrew from the music scene 20 months ago. This was right after Epik High had released their seventh album Epilogue, which topped the U.S. digital hip-hop/rap charts on iTunes.
Many fans are wondering, "But what will happen to Epik High?" The contract solely is between Tablo and YGE, but there are no plans for Epik High's disbandment. According to a YGE spokesperson, Epik High members Mithra Jin and DJ Tukutz were fully supportive: "Since Mithra Jin is still carrying out military service and Tablo has only signed a solo contract, we can't say anything about Epik High at this point. This is a matter to be discussed when all members reunite. As of now, we're keeping many possibilities open."
